Dr Athanasios Gelasakis holds a PhD in animal management, health and welfare from the School of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th., 2011), after receiving a scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (Ι.Κ.Υ.) and a BSc from the same school (2005). In 2014, he received an MSc in Public Health from the National School of Public Health in Athens and the same year he was elected as a diplomate of the European College of Small Ruminant Health Management (ECSRHM).
From 2007 he works as a private farm animal veterinarian, offering his consultancy and veterinary services in farms, cooperatives and companies across Greece. From 2011, he collaborates as a Post-Doctoral researcher with the Department of Animal Husbandry at the School of Veterinary Medicine, A.U.Th. and from 2015 he collaborates with the Perrotis College, American Farm School (A.F.S.) and with the Technological Educational Institute (T.E.I.) of Western Macedonia in Greece, as an adjunct lecturer.
He has participated in about 20 European and National research projects and has published as an author about 90 publications in peer reviewed journals and in the proceedings of National and International congresses.
